TIK for Jira

Automating the capture of time spent and removing the manual time entry process can improve the accuracy of the data in time tracking systems and provide Finance with an auditable way to capitalize software development costs. By utilizing a system that automatically tracks the amount of time people spend on a work item type, organizations can get a realistic view of expenses incurred to develop a deliverable.

How it works

Agile teams use Kanban boards to visualize and track their work regardless of the Agile methodology (Kanban or Scrum) executed. TIK for Jira tracks the amount of time a work item spends on a Kanban board between Backlog and Done. Time is accrued by the Assignee of the work item so costs per individual can be calculated if that level of accuracy is necessary.

TIK for Finance

TIK for Finance is a custom-built solution in an organization’s Portfolio Project Management (PPM) tool. It uses secured REST API calls to extract TIK for Jira data on a daily basis. The data can be used to:

  • Automatically produce individual timesheets

  • Convert time to money to derive work item cost of delivery

  • Show work item cost of delivery by capital and operating expense

  • Convert time to money to drawdown expenses from an annualized Product budget

  • Show a Product’s capital vs. operating expense distribution

How it works

  • TIK for Finance uses secured REST API calls to extract TIK for Jira data on a daily basis to automatically create timesheets, calculate work item cost of delivery, and execute product funding budget drawdowns.
